Thursday DKP...for now

DKP for Thursday nights. Not sure if this is just a real life scheduling issue (are there popular TV shows on Thursday?) or if people don't feel like progressing in ICC25. To test the latter, for the near term we will be awarding 3 DKP for Thursday night attendance.

1) 3 DKP, but that's not fair, I can't make it on Thursday nights! -- Just pretend that we actually were able to fill the raid and kill one boss. With three pieces of loot dropping at 25 DKP cost, that's 3 DKP per person.

2) But people are just going to show up and not raid seriously! -- I'm willing to solve one problem at a time. Our immediate problem is no one showing up. After that problem is solved, I'll worry about looking at the raid logs for actual mediocre performance.

3) So now I have to show up on every Thursday night for half an hour just to do nothing, what's the point? -- Remember that the ICC25 raid buff over time will hit 30%. With 30% more health/damage/healing power, we can realistically start undermanning some of the encounters. I want to give those people who can actually raid on two nights a gearing edge so that we can progress and kill stuff on Thursday night with less than a full raid eventually.

4) Gearing edge?! -- It's a slight edge. Remember that an item costs 25 DKP. If Thursday nights are worth 3 DKP, it will take two months to get 24 DKP ahead of someone who can only make Tuesday nights. I think that is a fair trade in the grand scheme of things -- it is to my advantage as a raid leader to gear people who I can use for progression raiding on two nights over those who I can only use for one night.

5) So where will this bonus DKP come from, we're using a zero sum system? -- It will come off of the Phantombank character.

6) If we are able to fill an entire raid on Thursday and kill a boss, will we still get the 3 DKP bonus? -- Yes, for now. If we get to the point that Thursday raiding is as solid as Tuesday raiding, we'll discuss removing the bonus.

7) If that's the way you're gonna do it, maybe I should start ditching Tuesday raids until you give us a 3 DKP bonus for that too. -- If that happens, I'm just gonna give up on running 25 man raids.

I figure that people would rather experience a Lich King 25 man kill in person instead of just watching a YouTube video of it. I figure that people enjoy our raiding style and raid members over a PUG or 'hardcore' progression guild. Don't feel obligated to go with the 25 man raids if you actually hate going to them; there are other options. If you want a 'hardcore' progression guild, do something like what Andrew did and move a character to another guild and leave an alt or two in-guild to keep in touch with us. If raiding is not your thing, let us know so we can change your rank back to casual raider/member so you don't get spammed with calendar invites or whispers asking you to fill in for a raid (that's what the ranks are for!).

Another option to make people not feel their time is wasted is to open up Thursdays to 10 man raid scheduling. What that means is that the 10 man raid leaders should set their calendar invites to start at say 9:00 PM. In the event that we're able to fill a 25 man raid, the 10 man raid at 9:00 PM would be cancelled. If the 25 man raid is cut short due to attendance issues, the 10 man raid would be able to use Thursday night as an extra progression night.

In the past, I've run some ToGC10 on Thursday when the 25 got cut short. I'll probably start running these again if none of the ICC10 raid leaders end up using the Thursday night option.
