Last night I was in a guild heroic and we decided to use vent. Using my new Triton Headset everyone could hear me just fine and I could hear game volume just fine but I couldn't hear anyone speaking. I had voice volume on my headset turned up all the way, all the settings allowed for sound to go through, and nothing was muted but I still couldn't hear anyone. Searching online has said pretty much what I've covered aside from trying to run it as Administrator which I'll try, but aside from that I've no idea how to get it to work. Help?

under setup make sure the direct sound checkboxes are checked, default directsound device is selected, and the line volume and inbound amplifier aren't all the way down.
what os are you on? my windows 7 computer is not functional at the moment, so i'm not sure of any other specific things for that. if you haven't tried rebooting, do so, it's possible for the sound drivers to crash and / or get corrupted in odd ways.

I'm using Vista at the moment and I have all the settings maxed and I'm using the default sound line as you mentioned. I don't know if its working now as our vent isn't up yet but hopefully that fixed things.
