New Substitute Guild Master

Post by Jon »

I wanted to let everyone know that Myrdinn (Jon) has taken over as Substitue GM. Benvolo got busy with RL and needed to pass it on. This arrangement is considered temporary until we figure out a new guild master. I will not be handling raid leader responsibilities as that is handled per raid and the roles are intentionally seperated. We also have other officers that handle bank requests, recruitment, and dkp. Draven and I are also in the process of upgrading our website (please be patient with us as when we are not developing websites for $$, we like to spend some of our free time actually playing the game, but the website will continue to improve). Besides what's listed above, I will help and facilitate everything else. Please feel free to hit me up in game through chat, in-game mail, forums, or vent. I pvp quite a bit, so if I'm in a BG I may have to get back to you, but I will try to be available as much as possible to respond to anybody about anything.

There are some points I wanted to mention as I begin this temporary role:

1. I haven't been given this 'promotion' to do anything drastic, so for better or for worse don't expect any major changes immediately. FA plans to be here for the long haul and keep it as a place where friends can have fun playing the game together. There has been a tremendous amount of discussion about our current lack of raid progression which all of the raiders in this guild want to work on. So we will continue to work on this. Please continue to use the forums as needed to discuss. I also am glad to talk about the issues through vent with anybody who has concerns. We can cover a lot more ground talking than forums posts, and I would especially be glad to hear thoughts from long time guild raiders as to where and how we want this guild to evolve.

2. Recruiting: We do need more guild raiders so everyone please feel free to recruit people they think would be a good fit for the guild. Go run pugs, chat with people, find cool people who are fun and play the game well and ask them to post an app if they are interested. We know it's a harder sell to recruit raiders than when we were progressing faster, but we continue to be a guild that places more emphasis on people than epeens. Now all people in the guild are considered equals, but this is not true of 'raiding toons'. We have that distinction in the recruit apps for a reason.

3. Raiding & Ranks: Our ranks are primarily setup to establish a distinction for 25-man Ulduar capable raiding toons. To reiterate, our guild places more emphasis on people and everyone needs to respect other people in the guild. In raiding, this translates to respecting other peoples time by bringing your A-game on every level to raids. If you want help becoming a better raider, make a post in the specific class forum or tell me or another officer in game and we'll do everthing we can to help. We want to make sure that everyone who wants to gets a chance to raid and we are here to help make that happen. If you need more information on ranks, see the sticky post in this forum.

4. Raid Leaders: I'm sure there can never be a shortage of qualified raid leaders for any guild. I challenge anyone who may be frustrated with 25-man raid progression to take on the role of establishing and successfully leading 10-man raids. We don't have a whole lot of 10-mans going these days, so whether it's an alt Naxx-10 run, a lowbie UBRS run, a pvp match, or even Ulda 10 use your discretion and start trying to create and lead raids. As of now, Veteran Raiders and above can create guild events. If you are interesting in learning to lead raids and setup guild-wide events, but at are at a lower rank please let me know.

5. Enjoy the Now!: This is probably more for me than most people out there, but our guild has gone through a lot of changes in this past year and I for one am ready for a fresh take on the guild. We've lost a lot of people due to this tangled web called RL, so lets try to focus on the present and the future of this hobby we call WoW. Old timers are always welcome back if they get the itch. But lets make sure we all continue to have fun together as a guild and make everybody, especially the new guildies feel welcome. For new guildies, please take the time to introduce yourselves in our FA Lounge.

If anybody has any immediate concerns about this recent guild master change or anything outlined above, please reply to this thread or let me know in game.

My concern is that you're the guild master. Trees are not qualified. Nor are spell-casting mooses.

But srsly, I <3 you.

What if I was a rare albino bear, would that make you feel better about it?

As long as you created a bi-weekly karaoke and participated, maybe.
