New "Read This First" thread for App Forum

Post by thandrenn »

I've updated the "Read This First" post Chuunks had in the Application forum. Unless any problems I'll be posting this Monday Night along with the new Application Templates Daghi made.

NOTE: We are currently erroneously listed by WoWjutsu as the #1 guild on US-Destromath. If you're applying here because of that, you may want to check out the other guilds listed. Otherwise, read on!

Forged Alliance is a casual raiding guild composed mostly of adults (21+). We do not exclude anyone based on age -- but that should be a guideline as to the level of maturity we will expect from our guildees. We're a fun loving group of friends and family who enjoy playing World of Warcraft. If you can't take a joke or don't have a sense of humor, this may not be the place for you.

That said -- on to the (other) important stuff:

RAID TIMES

Our 25 man raids are on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday with invites going out around 7:50pm server time (Pacific Time) and first pull when possible (ideally around 8:00pm).

We have a few mostly organized 10 man groups spread out across the week under the leadership of various Guild members. Ask in Guild chat for more information on those.

We use the in-game Calendar for sign ups usually starting the week before. Accepting the Calendar invite does not guarantee a raid spot, but gives you a higher priority over those that haven't. Assuming you show up on time.

You are expected to have read up on the encounter and be aware of your role. Do not put us in a position to waste 24 other raiders time to explain all the nuances of a fight, we will go over the way we as a guild handle the encounter (ie. who heals who, who is on what, etc..) if necessary, but you should know your part.

RAID SPOTS

Calendar invites are given out to those with the rank of Trial Raider and higher. If we have open spots still we'll usually open it up to Non-raider ranked guild members.

Raid positions go to the most reliable and prepared raiders. Obviously it would be a best case scenario to have a consistant group of 25, but where life interferes - we try to be fair. We're not a bunch of arrogant bastards (mostly), and will most of the time try to do what's right -- but understand that we're also going to make tough decisions for the sake of progression.

Reliability is something that's measured over time and through the normal trials and tribulations.
* Are you online and available, even knowing that our Tuesday raid is typically overful?
* Are you parked at the instance just in case someone has connection problems/needs to go?
* Do you know when to shut-up-and-listen in vent?
* Are you going to throw a fit if you get an invite at 7:50 -- and one of our main raid force logs on at 7:55 or 8:15 or whenever, and we ask you to step out for him?

Prepared means that you've put the effort into your character.
* Do you have enchants on all your enchantable items?
* Do you use good gems?
* Are you prepared with consumables enough to withstand a bunch of wipes?
* Do you respec to PvE for raiding?
* Have you read up on the encounter and know your role?
* Have you geared yourself sufficiently with heroic/badge/Naxx gear?

LOOT

For Naxxramas and Malygos 25 we use what has been called a "Golf Score" system. For more information see the following thread:

I think it looks good personally, really gives people a good idea what to expext coming into this guild. And we all know that people only post in forums when they don't like something, so it probably a good thing noone's responded. :D

Probably not for this thread, but one question to put in the app process might be: How did you hear about us?
