by Rheeah
Name (optional, first name only): Dave
Age: 61
Character Name: Rheeah
Realm: Proudmoore
Class: Shaman
Level: 80
Main Spec: Restoration
Off Spec(s): When raiding in the past, I have usually off-spec'ed as Enhancement, but lately I have been playing Elemental more for world content, delves, etc.

Have you read and understand the following posts?
- Read This Before Applying
- Raiding and Rosters

I have read both.

Which of the following best describes your raiding goals?
1. Raid whenever you have time in whatever group is most convenient
2. Raid consistently in a normal / heroic mode group and maybe some mythic
3. Dedicated to progressing through mythic at whatever rate the group is capable of
4. Hardcore mythic progression
5. None of the above, please explain:

#2
#3 if possible

What is your raid experience? Please list as much as you think is relevant.

I have raided (almost exclusively as a healer) since Cataclysm. In past expansions, my guilds got Cutting Edge (Garrosh) and Cutting Edge (Archimonde). I have 16 AoTC, including Ansurek and Gallywix.

In the guild I just left, we generally got a few mythic bosses down every tier (BFA through Undermine).

My raid attendance is very close to 100% (I think I've missed one raid night this expansion, due to traveling).

In Mists and Warlords, I wrote and maintained an addon (now obsolete) on CurseForge to compute Resto Shaman stat weights in real time. (This was necessary because the target's health was not included in logs back then).

Why did you leave your previous (current) guild?

My previous guild has 2 other exceptional healers who regularly put up gold parses. My reflexes are not as fast as they used to be, and my casts per minute are on the low side (I try to focus on improving this). This means I get sniped a lot and my parses look terrible (as recently as Shadowlands, they were quite a bit better). The guild (which was casual when I joined it in the Fall of 2020) wants to become more hard-core, so they decided to replace me for S3.

When in a comp with less exceptional healers who have comparable gear to mine, I find I can do competitive HPS though.

How did you find our guild?

I looked for an AOTC guild on Proudmoore that was recruiting on Wowprogress.com

What is the basic enchanting / gemming strategy for your character?

Restoration shamans rely most on Intellect and Critical Rating, but it is difficult to precisely weigh the value of secondary stats since healing simulations don't really exist. There is conflicting information about whether Haste or Versatility is the second-best secondary stat. After Critical Rating, I tend to split the other secondary stats roughly evenly.

For enchants, I prefer Intellect, Critical Rating and Leech where possible, and Fiery Resolve (with an AoE heal proc) on my weapon.

What consumables do you use during raids?

I use the Flask of Tempered Aggression and Tempered Potions. The guild generally provided feasts, but I carry my own too, and I use Crit/Versatilty food (Fish and Chips) for personal food.

What boss mod(s) / addons do you use?

I use DBM as the main boss mod. I use Elvui, Vuhdo and WeakAuras extensively. I have a self-written castbar WeakAura that follows my cursor and also shows the cooldown status of important healing abilities.

Is there anything else you want to tell us?

If you still have a spot open, I hope we can see whether I'm able to meet your needs.

My raid attendance will be close to perfect, and I always prepare for raids by learning the mechanics ahead of time.

I am a physics professor in real life, and definitely into a mature, but fun, atmosphere.

Are there any ways that we can improve the application process?

It is quite well organized!

we fall under #2 these days and i would expect that to continue to be the case. it has been a long time since we've attempted to progress mythic content as a guild, but if earlier bosses are doable with pugs we usually at least try towards the end of the tier. in undermine we were able to get vexie and cauldron of carnage down with a half guild / half pug group. logs are here if you're curious:

sorry to hear that :(

we are relatively casual and i'm pretty indifferent to parse rankings as long as we are progressing at a reasonable rate. i mainly use logs to see what we are having issues with so that we can adapt our strategies accordingly and i can provide suggestions as necessary.

attendance is not required so no worries there, and in case it matters most people are pretty quiet in discord as opposed to being chatty. we are done raiding for season 2 and most people are taking a break at the moment, but i suspect we will check out the mythic dungeons next week.

also, you should be aware that the current plan for normal manaforge omega is to not research anything and see how it goes:

i expect that experience will be more chaotic than usual but i think it will be more fun. i do not expect that to be able to take that approach with heroic.

anywho, if you're still interested please track someone down online and we can get you an invite :)
the easiest way to do so is our forged alliance community:
