Late Night Kara Run
Hey! So before everyone asks, we attempted Prince last night waaay after my bedtime (Think it was just aftermidnight server time maybe). We cleared the trash and tried to take down Prince. IT was awesome being able to scrape up enough guildies to go give it a stab-- Thank You all for your willingness to come look at the fight. I know it was a newer fight to most of you, and if you ask anyone in Group 1, It is generally a Very Hard fight. Especially when we had badluck with infernals. Good practice though, now that you guys got to see it. We did have a few group 2 people in there with us, so it was really good for you guys to be able to see how the fight works, you guys will have some extra experience to share with the rest of the Core group. Lots of fiun though. We gave it about 3 or 4 tries and then decided it really was too late and we needed to crash
. Somthing to look forward too? Rofl. That can be a very fun fight though because you have to be ready to change gears at any time with the elementals. Anyone have any suggestions on what we could have done different?

I wasn't there .. but my thoughts on Prince: This is not a melee friendly fight at all -- even the best of melee classes find themselves way down on the damage meters because so much time is spent running out of the shadow novas. You should be running out of every shadow nova (unless you "cloak of shadows") -- any heals you're taking are heals better spent on the tank. The only person getting any damage for all of Phase1 and Phase2 is the tank really ... Save your cooldowns for Phase2 -- burn him hard there, until your tank has enough avoidance and your healers are overgeared for the encounter -- this is going to be a very healing intensive part. Quaff that Ironshield at the beginning of the phase -- have your avoidance gear on -- people should shed aggro if possible and just go berserk with damage. Make sure as tank that you're hovering over your "oh crap" buttons -- this is the time when you have 2 level 73 boss mobs beating on you, you WILL get crushed no matter what you do. Keep TC up, keep Demo shout going, have a hunter Scorpid Sting -- anything to mitigate some of that damage and help the healers. If you thought you were burning hard in phase 2 -- burn twice as hard in phase 3. This is the phase when the infernals are going to drop twice as fast, but he will stop enfeebling so it will be in some respects easier to stay alive (or at least not insta-gibbed). Elixir of Demonslaying is good for that extra punch when you feel like it's going well. As tank -- you need to get used to moving him. Just keep doing what you're doing, but back that thang up towards where the ranged group is. DO NOT move until it's called, as healers need to be prepared. A perfect move happens right when he's doing his Shadow Nova and you can just ride it like a wave to the next spot. Additionally -- be prepared when the ranged group has to moved for a couple "oh craps" because they'll have to stutter step-heal you as they move.

Chuunks said it best, noone should get hit with the shadow nova (besides the tank). All melee should run out on every single one, even if not enfeebled. I save cloak of shadows for when you are enfeebled, it will get rid of the slowing effect allowing you to run out easily. We usually lose our off-tank (amulec apparently does NOT like to Move-it) early in the fight to an enfeeble/shadow nova, and this is a VERY hard fight to do with 9 people. If you have to run through an elemental to move him, dps'ers - having your hand over the super healing potion/healthstone can help keep you alive while the raid repositions. This is one of those fights like Gruul where dps should expect to recieve ZERO heals, since it will all be focused on the tank... So bandage/healthstone/health pot!!! This is one to pull out all the stops for melee since you will be having a hard time as it is. Pony up for that flask of relentless assault, scrolls of strength, scrolls of agility, and ravager dogs. If you are using an elixir of agility, you are basically gimping your stats since you cant toss up the scroll too. Use onslaught elixir if you can't get a hold of a flask.
