HenryRollin's Old Timey Instance Tour Extravaganza!!!

Post by Henryrollins »

I've had an idea in my head for a long time now. I want to get together a casual, possibly weekly run of old instances during times when we don't have raids.   In the instances I'd like to get the max amount of people, for the fastest run but either way , whoever shows up aslong as there's a tank, healer, and dps we'll go kill stuff.  This includes all classic and bc instances.  I wanted to know which ones you guys wanted to do the most, and then it will probably switch off to different ones every week so it doesn't get boring.  You might be asking yourself "Why would I want to run old content?".  Well, here are the reasons why:                                                                                                                                                        Reputation with a faction that can only be gained by clearing that instance.  i.e hydraxian waterlords for MC or The Brood of Nozdormu for AQ40.  Getting that rep might also give you a title,  like Guardian of Cenarius and The Exalted.  (Helpful for DK's who have no rep) Skill Patterns and Recipes.  Besides gaining patterns and recipies from increasing your rep there are also things that could drop in the instance like the numerous enchants and recipies from MC, AQ20, or SSC etc. Achievements.  Some might find it dumb, and others might find it an insatiable thirst.  Either way it is fun to clear something and as an added bonus get some bragging points.  Grow your epeen. :P Mounts:  Like the ones that that drop from ZG, tiger and raptors,  Sunwell Phoenix's, and those hard to find AQ40 Bug mounts.  There's nothing like showing up random passerby's with your rare mount. Gear:  What?  Did I say gear?  All that stuff is crap compared to my new shiny lvl 80 epics right?   ...Wrong.  Get some nostalgia by completing your old sets,  some have fun bonus's like the ZG sets especially the tiger/panther fist weapons that turn you into a panther.  Collect your old tier1 and above for some sentimental value. Legendary's:  Hey we might get lucky and get some Thunderfury's or Warglaives etc.  You won't know unless you come. What Instances Would We Run? Every Classic and BC raid instance:  ZG, MC, Ony, BWL, AQ20, AQ40.  Karazhan, Zul'Aman, Gruul's, Mag, SSC, Hyjal, TK, BT, Sunwell. I'd like it to be a fast, very short clear of one instance per "run".  Of course if the group wants to continue then it will continue onto whatever other instance we all want to clear which makes sense in short instances like Ony, Gruuls, Mag.  I'm kind of looking for about an hour run or less on these instances.  If it turns into a 3 hour ordeal then its no fun right?  It's just something to do for fun. Size/level:  It's open to everyone that wants to come, first come first serve.  If we fill up maybe you could start another group, or we could split the size, its all cool.  Please be 60 and/or 70 for those instances that require it.  I don't think Ony has attunement anymore,  haven't checked on BWL though, so please be "prepared" before coming.  BWL i think we can live without ony cloaks, but I can make them anyway so, whatever. Loot:  Its fairly simple.  Greed/Need if you want an item and can use it Need it,  if you don't, greed it.  greens blues, epics, etc.  It's just like how you would act in a regular dungeon.  We're all friend's and guildies here.  Legendary's  be smart about it,  if you don't have the money to craft thunderfury,  talk it out , though i doubt it'll drop lol.  No drama please.  Open rolls will greatly speed up these instances.  Most Importantly: Fun:  This is for fun.  Overall have fun.  You get to learn new(old) fights you may have never seen.  No leeroy's and no ninja's please but we will be aoe clearing whatever we can to make it go faster and having "fun" with bosses. Feedback: Please post what instances you would like to go to and what day/time is good for you (non raiding days though its totally possible that we could do something earlier in the day before a wotlk raid).  The more support the more people will want to come.  Feel free to post whatever else and also  questions if you have them.  I will try to edit the 1st post, can't remember if i can or not,  and answer all the questions.  Update: 1/5/09 Seems like Sunday will be the best day for "casual" runs.  Some people have church or watch football and most are relaxing on that day.  I'm thinking like 2 or 3 o'clock on Sundays,  please post whats good for you.  Also it's a pick between ZG and AQ20 for this upcoming run, from what people have said they wanted to run.  Need some more feedback to choose,  so for now i'm putting it in the game calendar, as ZG or AQ20,  either it'll be decided by you during the week, or we'll just group up on sunday and figure where we want to go then.  I sent out invites on the calendar,  one by one, lol, so if I missed your name lemme know.  :D

I'd be down for going once a week or so. The key is like you said, getting enough people to make it fast.

Good idea. I'd be up for AQ20, AQ40, MC, and BWL.  Mainly looking just for acheivements.  Would be glad to get some Cenarion Circle rep as well for title.  Weekly would definitely be too much for me personally, but with such a large guild if you set up a weekly time that may end up working out.

Awesome run guys,  we did AQ20 full clear,  went on to AQ40 full clear,  also did a small 5 man ZG after that.  You guys were great.  It was a little slow to get invites but after that it went fast.  A lot of the feedback seemed to point toward clearing Molten Core next week, so I'll probably put it up on the ingame calendar tommorrow.  The only thing is that we need to make sure people are attuned, and we need enough essence.  I'm through exalted so i have the 1h cooldown, essence.   We need more people with essence and more people attuned.  Though I think you don't have to be attuned anymore.  We'll find out.   If we can't do it we'll go somewhere else.  I think I'll set it for 2:30 that seemed like a good time.

It was pretty fun Henry. I really liked how you were telling us what dropped from it that used to be important. It was like a WoW History Tour or something. Anyways, GJ and see ya next week hopefully.

I think we'll have next week be MC see how it goes,  possibly MC/BWL if it clears fast enough, because they're in the same area, and it'd be just like how we did Aq20/40.  After that, (i think thats 2 weeks from now)  I'll plan a BT raid.  I'd like to get some BC content in, don't want everyone thinking its just classic wow instances.   I just wanted to get more support for it before trying (greater numbers of people showing up)  With the sucess of last week, I think its definately possible..  Is Sunday all day bad for you Thand? or is it better for you earlier or later?       My goal is to eventually get a few BT TK SSC Sunwell raids in.  Of course, after every raid, give some feedback on where you want to go next.  thats what decides the raid.

Good job with Mc/bwl.  Next is BT.  Blood and Thandrenn were looking for later times, so i wanted to see what was good for people.  I've done the previous runs early so we don't run into naxx groups.   Monday seems to have nothing gong all day,  Sunday has naxx sometimes for group 2 i think, so choose between Sunday early  like 3  for people,  or Monday at 8 seems like the times that people keep asking for,  so gimmie some feedback and I'll schedule later this week.
